One Uncommon
At Uncommon Schools, it takes a village to fulfill the K-12 promise. In a message to staff, Uncommon President Julie Jackson shares why we do the work we do.
About Us & Mission
Uncommon Schools is a non-profit charter management organization (CMO) that oversees 54 public schools in Boston, Camden, Newark, New York City, Rochester, and Troy. Our mission is to close the achievement gap and prepare low-income students in grades K-12 to graduate from college, and achieve their dreams.

We hire year-round for all grade levels in K-12. Join us and inspire the future.
Dual Leadership Model
Our schools are managed by Principals and Directors of Operations (DOO) in a co-leader partnership. This allows Principals to focus on instructional leadership and facilitate professional development of teachers, while DOOs can oversee the logistics to help schools function seamlessly.
