About The Salvation Army
The Salvation Army is a worldwide Christian church and registered charity, which has been fighting against social inequality and transforming lives for over 150 years.
The Salvation Army expresses its faith through charitable action by working at the heart of communities across the UK and the Republic of Ireland. We have 750 community churches and social centres where we offer friendship, practical help and support to some of the most disadvantaged people in our communities.
Motivated by our Christian faith we offer practical support and services to all who need them, regardless of ethnicity, religion, gender or sexual orientation. Our work includes:

◾Community - debt advice, unemployment, isolation
Across the UK and the Republic of Ireland, we:

◾Helped 1,208 people through our Employment Plus service
◾Supported 2,267 victims referred to our modern slavery services
◾Brought together 5,690 people at our lunch clubs

The Salvation Army's Drop-In centre behind Oxford street, one of the most famous streets in London, helps many homeless men and women every day. The staff and volunteers work hard to create a safe and caring environment for anyone looking for food and someone to talk to.
Around 5,000 people visit this Salvation Army centre every year. Of these the vast majority (63 per cent) were sleeping rough.
