About LMI
LMI is a consultancy dedicated to powering a future-ready, high-performing government, drawing from expertise in digital and analytic solutions, logistics, and management advisory services. We deliver integrated capabilities that incorporate emerging technologies and are tailored to customers’ unique mission needs, backed by objective research and data analysis. Founded in 1961 to help the Department of Defense resolve complex logistics management challenges, LMI continues to enable growth and transformation, enhance operational readiness and resiliency, and ensure mission success for federal civilian and defense agencies.
Why LMI?
Come to work, stay to grow.

People come to LMI because they want their work to have meaning and their contributions to have value.

In an industry full of consulting firms, LMI stands apart. Our people and our clients are what matter the most, and our expectation is that each one of our employees plays an active and immediate role in solving our clients’ toughest problems. We hire the bright minds and collaborative spirits needed to get things done, and we support them once they join LMI.

We value openness and inclusion. You’ll see broad diversity of ethnicity, gender, age, and beliefs at all levels of our organization. Our staff is a mix of experienced hires from the private sector, military veterans and spouses, retired federal civilian employees, and recent college graduates.

Our commitment to our clients lies in the ideas and solutions coming from the innovative minds of our people. That value is what has enabled LMI to grow steadily over the past 55 years into the successful and stable organization we are today.

We protect and grow the investments we have made in each hiring decision by offering competitive pay, generous benefits, continuing education opportunities, flexible schedules, performance rewards programs, and a range of rich work-life programs and affinity groups.

Year after year, LMI wins recognition for being a great place to work:

The Washington Post ranked LMI first in the "Largest Company" category of its 2021 Top Workplaces in the National Capital Region list.
Recognized as a “Best for Vets” employer by Military Times for ten consecutive years.
Chosen as one of Washington Business Journal’s “Healthiest Employers” in 2014, 2013, 2012, and 2011.
Named as one of the Greater Washington area’s “Best Places to Work” for 2013 and 2012 by the Washington Business Journal.
Chosen as one of “Washington’s Great Places to Work” in Washingtonian magazine.
Chosen as a “Military-Friendly Employer” by the Military Officers Association of America, MOAA magazine.
Recipient of The Principal® 10 Best Companies for Employee Financial Security award.

Not surprisingly, over a quarter of our personnel have been with LMI for 10 years or longer, and we have a staff with an average of seven years. And within the last year, approximately one half of our new hires come through employee referrals—a testament to the enthusiasm our employees feel for LMI.
Our Culture
LMI is a place where you’ll be welcomed, respected and valued.

Ask anyone who works at LMI what the corporate culture is like and you will invariably hear the same things: collegial, teamwork-oriented, supportive and stimulating. LMI is a place you want to stay.

LMI takes pride in always working in the clients' best interest. We strive to work only on programs of demonstrable value to the public sector, with the result that our work is both challenging and rewarding. LMI employees build strong bonds by working together in pursuit of a shared, and worthy, goal—improving the management of government.

LMI nurtures our employees, both personally and professionally. We provide a broad array of technical, management, individual skills workshops, seminars, conferences, and classes to help our employees reach their full potential. We also offer employees 5.5 service hours each year to volunteer at an organization of their choice and give back to the community.

Not only does LMI offer competitive compensation, great benefits, and flexibility in schedules, but the company also provides the opportunity to make a difference by doing work you love to do. We make it possible to learn from the recognized experts in their field—by working side by side with them—and to go home at the end of every day knowing your contributions have added value that goes beyond the profit motives of a typical consultancy.
