About Habitat for Humanity International
Habitat for Humanity International is a global nonprofit housing organization that is dedicated to eliminating poverty housing around the world. They seek to bring people together to build homes, communities and hope. Since 1976, Habitat has served more than 500,000 families by welcoming people of all races, religions and nationalities to construct, rehabilitate or preserve homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions. Habitat has sheltered more than 2.5 million people worldwide.
Giving Back to Military Families
As part of our annual International Sales Meeting, Simpson Strong-Tie employees participate in a “Put Something Back” team-building activity with a charitable component. In 2015, the 350 meeting attendees assembled, painted and decorated 20 playhouses as part of a Habitat for Humanity build project.
The Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley affiliate in Northern California worked with Blue Star Moms, a membership organization for mothers whose children are serving or have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Blue Star Moms identified military families with young children who would appreciate the playhouses.
Local families came to the meeting, held in Tucson, AZ, to pick up their playhouses. Simpson Strong-Tie is proud to participate in charitable opportunities like this one to maintain our founder Barc Simpson’s legacy of giving back to our communities.
